Winnetka School Board Meeting – 5/17
The Winnetka District 36 School Board has been discussing the stormwater proposal. The next School Board meeting is 5/17/2016. Regular meetings are open to the public and will be held in The Skokie School Resource Center. Regular meetings begin at 7:15 P.M. Work sessions are also open to the public and may be scheduled at the discretion of the Board. This meeting is not specifically about storing stormwater in Crow Island Woods, but it will include a report on the storm of last Saturday, July 23. Some affected residents will likely show up and urge the Village to do something, so it would be very helpful to attend this meeeting if you can to provide a balanced perspective... The Winnetka Village Council will be discussing a limited ban on phosphorus recommended by the Winnetka Environmental and Forestry Commission. Reducing the amount of phosphorus in our stormwater run-off will probably improve the odds that the Cook County Forest Preserve will accept that stormwater from us. Phosphorus absorption is also one of the main purposes of the wetlands proposed by Strand in Duke Childs and Crow Island Woods, so reducing Phosphorus via edict seems like it would reduce the need…
